Animal print fabric and a lazy sunday

Hello lovelies!

Just a quick update...

I saw this cute animal print fabric last Wednesday in our local fabric shop and I was totally smitten.  So I took this photo and showed it to my mom.  I told her, I'd love to turn this into curtains and throw pillowcases.  Then we started measuring.  So last Friday, I finally bought this print in brown and cream and a matching plain cream fabric.  They have a black and white print too but it doesn't suit our house.  Mom loved the fabric too when I brought it home that day.  I'm excited!  She's gonna let me use her sewing machine for this! :D

On the other news, we took care of these 2 little boys last Sunday so my hands were once again tied and full to be taking photos for my treasure post.  That's my sister with her 2 nephews in our backyard.  The weather was hot and humid that day as if it's summer already.  But it's perfect for a lazy day. :D

Sylvanian Families Love Photo Contest

I joined the PH{heart}SF's Love Photo Contest in Facebook yesterday. I used my one and only Sylvanian Family to create the scene I want with few non-SF props. Here's my entry...

"Earth Love"

"Mr. and Mrs. Fox are teaching their little ones to love the earth by planting trees. This simple step can make a positive impact in our environment and can help Mother Nature recover her balance for future generations."

Featured are my Sylvanian Fox Family planting trees. Non-SF props are Barbie sunglasses, water sprinkler eraser, and some miniature polyethylene that I made myself. The plants and organic soil are real.

Here are some outtakes...

If you own Sylvanian Families too and would like to join the LOVE photo contest, just LIKE the PH {heart}SF's facebook page. The contest is open for both local (Philippines) and International Sylvanian Families lover. :)

Click here for the official rules of the contest. Deadline is on February 29, 2012 at 12noon.

They're giving away 2 houses and a Kimono Set as prizes. So what are you waiting for? Join now! :D

My dollies, Amaya and The Pillars of the Earth

Few days ago, I asked the Mr. if he has a new movie that we could watch together while the baby was in deep slumber.  He answered me with, "I've got a mini-series which is far better than Amaya."  He hates Pinoy tv series.  He hates the drama that comes with every single Pinoy soap opera.  And he knows how much I love Amaya.  So anyway, he presented me with The Pillars of the Earth, based on Ken Follet's novel.  It's an eight part mini-series.  And last night, the Mr. and I finally finished watching it.  The story centers on the construction of a cathedral in a fictitious town in England during the time of The Anarchy

The series has monsters like Dian Lamitan too.  I kid the Mr. about that but of course there should always be an antagonist to any story, right? But I'm glad that just like most Pinoy soap operas, The Pillars of the Earth's ending was a happy one.  All the antagonist paid for their cruelness. Sweet! ha ha

While watching, I managed to make a new dress pattern for my Blythe in my notebook.  I hope to try this on a cloth tonight when the baby is already sleeping.  I was able to comb Pepper's hair too.  She deserved it after all the fittings she has gone through for the 3 spring/summer dresses.

Also, I plan to start sharing my treasures this weekend.  Yes, it's about my precious(es).  No, it's not about my baby - he's really precious though.  Here's a peek to some of them preciouses...

I will share maybe 1 treasure per week.  Mind you, I will just share pictures and the story behind each of them.  :D  The reason behind this treasure sharing is for me to have an online record of them.  Especially after what happened to my book collection, my need to record everything I have today grew even more stronger.
I can hardly wait to take their photos!

Have a lovely, productive, and fun weekend everyone! =D

Sewing spring/summer dresses for my lovely Blythe dolls

Here's what I've been up to in the past 2 weeks.  I managed to squeezed in some hand-sewing everytime my baby is asleep. Spring/Summer dresses with lovely flowery and paisley-like print!

Aren't they beautiful in their new spring/summer dresses? The green on green (model: Maria) was my first finished dress followed by the green on orange (Model: Mariko), then the violet for the little one (Model: Dottie), and last but not the least, the blue on yellow (Model: Pepper).

Here's Pepper modeling the first hand-sewn dress.

Pepper and Maria both modeling my first 2 dresses.

I plan to sell online a new batch of these spring/summer dresses real soon. Stay tuned for updates! :D

Breadcrumbs Project 366 : Day 33 - 36

Seems to me like this will be the last Breadcrumbs that I will post.  This has been saved in my drafts far too long already.  I will just go back to my blog posting routine.  My breadcrumbs, or "blessings" are always reflected in my posts anyway.

Breadcrumbs Project : Day 36

Still felt tired. What's so tiring about what happened was the stress.  And of course, it's not easy   carrying a very heavy and still bleeding heart.  I wonder how long is the mourning period for lost treasures like "books"?  I love books, especially in print format.  Our iPad can't replace the old book smell that is so addictive.  It is also the reason why we put our library inside our bedroom.

Breadcrumbs Project : Day 35

Our house is still very messy.  Poisons were drilled into the wood.  Saved books and clothes were in disarray.  But we didn't clean and put them back into order today.  Instead, we (hubby, Perry, & me) joined my parents in Sun Star Mall late in the afternoon.  We had to unwind to keep our sanity from all the stress.  We didn't buy anything at the mall but groceries.  The feeling of replacing our lost treasures was still at bay.  We need to secure the safety of our other collections first before collecting printed books once again.

Breadcrumbs Project : Day 34

Too tired.  I still could not get over with what happened yesterday.  I went to work with a very heavy heart.  Needless to say, I was unproductive.  Also, I was supposed to meet Janice today in Manila but I cancelled yesterday because we had to look for a professional to treat our termite infested house.

Breadcrumbs Project : Day 33

My heart bled so much today.  Termites ate their way up to my heart so bad that I cried.  I haven't even started blogging about my treasures yet here they were, burned to control the sickness crawling and growing inside them.

funeral pyre of the books we loved

Some pictures of the treasures we burned : B.B.King in London vinyl record jacket (we saved the record - somehow); my thesis; some classics; Neil Gaiman; Harry potter; Stephen Donaldson; Lois Lowry; Carl Sagan; David Morrell; Tao of Pooh (I think they love this so much); Terry Goodkind.

In the pictures, you can only see the very nice cover of the books.  But when you look inside, you'll find those creepy, pesteng termites crawling and eating the pages of our treasures.  We burned almost the whole library of our favorite authors and novels that were really heavily damaged by termites.  It was really painful because we collected these treasures for 15 long years.  We were able to save so very few.

What we did nearly break my heart into million pieces.  But it's the only way we could think of to control the pest from spreading.  Another creepy thing, I saw them termites, slowly starting to crawl their way from our wall to my study table where my craft supplies were stored. We were able to stop them, though. If we were a day late in discovering them, they might have eaten my craft papers and craft mags/books too.

watercolor fun

Remember my story yesterday that I was able to buy my veggies?  I also dropped by a bookstore and bought a cheap watercolor set for kids worth 30 pesos.  It only has 8 colors and a poor brush.  I left it at the office because I plan on using it during lunch break.  I told myself yesterday to remember bringing a good brush for today, but I forgot.  So I just used what was available. Below are my brush scripts and some drawings.

Can you guess what i plan to do with these? =D

Breadcrumbs Project 366 : Day 32

Isn't this dragon flash drive adorable?  Hubby brought this 8 gigabyte Kingston home today to show me.  I'm glad he did coz it really made my day after a very frustrating incident with a tricycle driver on my way home. I wanted to cry for what the driver did but my uncle and aunt, who also happen to be my Godparents, saved me from it.  They instructed their driver to take me home using their own vehicle.

I somehow felt silly, like a little girl, for my reaction - my eyes were filled with tears as I tell my Godparents what happened.  Good thing I was able to hold my tears back.  And my Godparents, being kind and all, tried their best to lighten up my mood.  They are just too sweet, loving, and thoughtful.  And I am forever grateful for having them in my life. I hope I could somehow show them how much they mean to me.
