Color-coded Wednesday (Week 3) - - - turned Thursday

last night, my kool and i watched the last full show of Daybreakers (we enjoy watching scary and gory movies together :))  and it was midnight when we finally got home so i wasn't able to post my color-coded wednesday.  but it's better late than never, right? sooo here's my very short color-coded post.

For the whole week, i've been super obsessed with French macarons. The obsession was purely out of curiosity.  And this afternoon, i finally got the chance to buy my much awaited petits fours in a local patisserie near the office.

(click on the images to view source)

It was costly but worth every peso!  I bought 4 flavors and my dear kool and i shared a bite or 2 of each flavor.  It was the bestest dessert I've ever had! I was looking for pistachio but it wasn't available so here are the four little delights i bought in order of my most favorite:

  • Coffee macaron
  • Blueberry macaroon
  • Valrhona Chocolate macaron
  • Milk Choco-Passion macaron
My sister is going to visit next week and I intend to bring her there no matter what! ^_^

Ohh, and last night I received this loveliest ponytail tie from Janice!  She crocheted this herself! She gave me burnt orange coz she knew I love that color. She's a darling!

ok love.  I gotta go and study for tomorrow's class.  I hope your day be filled with pleasant little surprises!

a one night project if done with a machine

Being the great procrastinator,  i finally got a chance to finish my first project in Style School given last November 26 by Leigh Ann.

This is hand sewn.  I decided to create a pillowcase because little pillows like the one i used in this picture are more readily accessible to me than fibre fill.  I will give this pillow to a crafty friend as a late Holiday gift to her this afternoon (Wednesday).

Here's a short story of how i finally decided to start with my super delayed projects...

Jas asked me last week if we could meet anyday this week since we didn't get a chance to see each other last December.  I was delighted to hear again from her so I said yes and told her that i'm available mon-thurs after office.  Hearing from a crafty friend was like a power button to start crafting.  And so I was finally able to finish 2 more 2010 planner (for my dear little sister and for my dear sister-in-law) over the weekend.  I have 1 more delayed planner for another friend which i will do tonight.

And then I went to Glorietta last Monday to buy some fabric and i found and bought lots of lovely prints and coordinating plains.  I was also able to check out the Dreams store in Glorietta 5 selling local and imported yarn and lots of sewing/crocheting/knitting stuff.  It's a lovely little store that also offers knitting classes for 600 pesos.  Learning to knit is one of my goals this 2010 and if i will fail to learn through reading and youtube, i will definitely enroll in the Dreams' class.  Going back to the subject, I also bought 3 cute little pillows for the pillowcases that i planned to sew.  I started measuring and cutting my fabric when i got home.  By midnight, I was able to hand sew the pocket! Yay!

I was sooo glad that i was able to crochet 4 little heart doilies (shades of red, purple/pink, yellow, and orange) long before style school so i would not need to worry about it.  I finished the pillowcase on Tuesday night after office.  I would have been faster if i had a sewing machine so i'm gonna put that in my wish list for 2010.  Ohh, I was also able to finish last night attaching the embellishments for 6 coffee huggers and photoshopped the base design of our restaurant's menu.  I couldn't share any pic for now because i forgot to take pictures last night.  This pocket pillow pics were taken with a cellphone cam just before posting.

Tonight, after i meet with my friend, I'm gonna finish the last (but not the least) planner and arrange my style file.  As for my Master's,  I'll also do some online research for my group projects tonight.

I'll see you later for my color-coded wednesday post.  Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Thursday Cravings (Week 1)

I'm craving for these chocolates that i tasted yesterday and today (Thanks Ms. Melvin for these heavenly treats!).  Unfortuantely, these came from Italy! I need help in finding a local store that sells these milk chocolate pralines filled with hazelnut cream and cereals!

Before this, my all time fave cereal chocolate is Nestle Crunch.

I've always loved chocolate with nuts and cereals and anything that adds texture to it.  I do not mind plain chocolate bars/candies but if given a choice, I will definitely choose the one with nuts/fruits/cereals in it.

As i write this post, i am also searching for a local retailer of Sorini.  And i found this site that sells Sorini Tiffy for $18.99!
 Description:

340gm of Milk and white chocolate pralines with hazelnut pralines and cereal center.

Your Purchase Includes A Complimentary Personalized Gift Message.
Absolutely Free Delivery
And Free Packaging

Shipping: Nationwide.

It's more expensive that the first picture which has the same price label but with 480gms of chocolate love in it.

I'm wondering why they both have different names but with the same description.  I hope the Sorini available locally tastes the same as the one i am craving for.

procrastinator

Hello hello!

It's supposed to be my Color-coded Wednesday today but i've mastered the skills of a great procrastinator so instead of sharing you my colorful finds online, i'm sharing with you some little projects i'm busying myself with this week.  Instead of doing the following more important things:

  • write my thesis proposal
  • research Action-Learning
  • write a reflection paper for saturday
  • start my Style File binder, wreath, and photo display
  • draft Trois employees rules & regulations, tasks and accountabilities
  • plan my wedding in May

... i busied myself with these...

shelving my craft supplies in the apartment for better access and safer storage

finishing my cousin's 2010 planner/organizer

with her name at the back; and

finishing the last batch of desk calendars i made for my officemates.

That's what i have accomplished this week so far.  I'm so waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy behind my other responsibilities & commitments.  and i hate myself for being the procrastinator that i've always been.  i think i should include that in my "To Change" list for 2010.

anyway, i'll do my best to color-code my wednesday tomorrow instead. have a lovely day/night ahead!

love,
ails

values education

hello! i wasn't able to post anything yesterday because i was busy with my homework in values education and with this...

If it doesn't work, click here to see my video.

This singsnap site is AWESOME! it's a very nice place to fool around and make fun of yourself. hee hee

anyways, i want to share with you my homework to give you something to think about. Let me know what you think. Don't worry, there's no right or wrong answers here. And don't think that I'll copy your answers because I am about to submit mine in an hour from now. okay? ^_^

Here are what you need to do per situation:

I. State the critical facts or circumstances surrounding the issue.
II. State the issue. (ex. whether i should lie in order to..)
III. Definition of relevant concepts. (e.g. values involved, actions, principles)
IV. State your position
V. Justify your position.
VI. State the possible strongest objection & justification
VII. State your answer and justification to the objection.
VIII. State your final resolution

The situations:

A. LYING
A girl is taken to a carnival by her dad. it is her tenth birthday and he's promised her that she can choose any 5 rides. But as they approach the gate, he discovers that he's forgotten his wallet. This is the last day of the carnival and it's too far to go home and come back before it closes. he counts the change in his pockets and tells his daughter that he has enough money to pay the entrance fee and they can go inside and look at all the exhibits and the parade, but there wouldn't be any money for rides, OR she could lie about her age and say she was five and get in for half-price, which would leave enough moeny for the 5 rides. They walk to the gate and the ticket seller asks the girl, "How old are you?" What would she say?

What would you do in this situation? Why?

B. FRIENDSHIP
You are spending the afternoon with a friend of yours who isn't very popular. You run into a group of your friends who invite you to go to a movie but they say that your unpopular friend can't come. What is the right thing to do?

C. ANIMAL RIGHTS
You have a little sister who is very sick. The only way to save her is to inject many kittens with the illness she has and experiment with various medicines to see if they will work. What should the doctors do?
Do animals have a right to life? Are we justified in using them in experiments? In eating them?

D. OBEDIENCE nad AUTHORITY
You are in an art class at school. The teacher tells the class that today each student is to paint a painting of their best friend in the class. the class is uncomfortable with this, and one student points out to the teacher that some kids will have lots of kids painting them, and other kids won't be chosen at all. The teacher insists that this is what the students should do. Almost all of the students don't want to do this. What should you do?
Is it disrespectful to disagree with your teacher? With your parents? Your friends? Can you disagree and still be respectful?

(Situations taken from: copyright 2008 Northwest Center for Philosophy for Children)

That's it! I hope you can find time to think about these. I found pleasure thinking of my answers here. I'm most passionate about my answer in C-Animal Rights. But I'll tell more about it next time coz i need to prepare to leave now. my school is far from my workplace.

Have a lovely day everyone!

ails

Color-coded Wednesday (Week 1)

Hello Wednesday!  I love this day because it divides the week in perfect half.  So i think it is fitting to sprinkle this day with lovely colors to spread out over my whole week.  ^_^

I am a librarian and I know how to perfectly organize a collection, especially books! But i just couldn't stop myself from ogling and dreaming of organizing my own collections like these . . .

... even if i know that for my clients, books are harder to locate in this manner.

But this scheme is perfect for other things...

gorgeousness! i wish to have at least one of these pretties!
and this cute shelf too to house it...
